Why I became a financial protection consultant
2014 — A lesson that came late
In 2014, my mother-in-law was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and quickly lost the ability to manage daily life on her own. About two years later, a friend working in insurance suggested we go back and review her policy — that's when we discovered she qualified for a TPD (Total and Permanent Disability) claim. The payout came through in 2017, and it became a key support for her care in the years that followed.
June 2026 — The journey comes full circle
From 2014 to 2026, caring for my mother-in-law — nursing fees, formula, and everything in between — cost more than RM250,000. She passed away peacefully this June. That journey is exactly what drives me to keep telling families: plan ahead of time, don't wait to dig out the policy after something has already happened.
